How to Use “还(hái)” and “也(yě)”

How to Use “还(hái)” and “也(yě)”

Today we’re going to compare two words,还and也. Although the two words have different meanings.
Firstly, let’s learn their meanings: the word 还often means “in addition”. The word 也often means “also”. Both of them are used a lot to connect sentences.
When还has a meaning of “in addition”, it’s normally used on the same subject.
也means “also”. It is used to mean different things or different people that have something in common, so the subjects are normally different.
Nevertheless, in a special case, 也can be used to describe the same subject, and in this case, 也and 还can be used interchangeably.
