你好！我是汉桥的老师，欢迎大家和我们一起学习HSK3.
我们看一下这个结构：除了…以外, 它有两个意思： except/besides.
We need to see the whole structure connected with 除了…以外 in the sentence to see which meaning is used. 以外can be left out.
When除了…以外 followed by ,都(all)…, together they mean “all…except…”, it indicates all the others in a specific scope are the same in a certain way except the part being mentioned.
我们看一下例子：
除了老师以外，大家都是外国人。
Or 除了老师，大家都是外国人。
除了妈妈以外，我们一家人都可以说英语。
除了你以外，我在中国一个朋友都没有。
除了…以外，还/也... besides…
If 除了…以外followed by还/也…， it indicates that there are still others besides the part being mentioned. The subject is put at the beginning of the sentence or right before “还/也”.
例如：
除了汉语以外，他还会说西班牙语和德语。
他除了认识我以外，还认识两个中国朋友。
除了饺子和包子，我也喜欢吃面条儿。

每次坐火车前，周明都会去超市买一些东西，除了面包、水果，他还要买一些报纸。-H31001
